20 days old!

We have been spending time sitting in the pen with the puppies crawling over us, it is the nicest feeling.  I love seeing the puppies squirming up to you and crawling all over you, trying to get under you, climbing up so they can look into your eyes!  Reminds me of the story we are going on a bear hunt, we cant go under it, we cant go over it so we have to go around it!!!  Makes me think the puppies haven’t heard the story as they were up to allsorts!  Very cute indeed.  Cute just doesn’t convey JUST how cute they are!  I love them so much.  They are going to be little heart breakers!

I have a few video clips of the puppies!

Yesterdays update….18 days old

Yesterday was worming day!  Not my favourite part of having puppies but luckily we all escaped the event unscathed.  No evidence of worms which is fab!  The puppies will be wormed every two weeks from now on.  Molly was wormed a couple of days before mating, I do not believe in worming pregnant dogs however it has to be recognised that worms can transfer from the bitch to the pups when they are developing in her womb.  Worms can also be transferred through the milk.  So Molly was wormed yesterday also.  (Breeders do vary with their worming programme – some start at 2 weeks old).

The pups still spend a lot of time having milk and feeding but when they are awake they are making the most of playtime!  They are learning skills of “how to play” with their litter mates.  This is very important as part of their socialisation!  They are making some funny little noises, little barks and growls.  It makes us laugh as they sometimes jump backwards as if in surprise at the noise they have just made – did it really come from them?!!

I have updated the puppy gallery with some more photos.

Molly with little peaches! (Miss Orange)

Here is a gorgeous photo of our Molly nursing peaches (who somehow snuck in an extra feed when the others were asleep!)… Molly has such a glossy coat!

Bitches can lose condition when they are feeding their puppies.  Luckily for us Molly has never lost condition – it is called a lactation moult and the poor girl can look terrible.  Molly has never had a lactation moult.  I put it down to the fact I monitor her levels of nutrition very highly.  Nutri-plus gel is my secret weapon alongside monitoring her fluids too!  Molly is given plenty of extra meals, cheese and eggs.  Some say it is not down to the nutrition – who knows?  I just hope we remain lucky and that Molly keeps as healthy looking as this photo!

17 days old and another milestone reached!

Our wonderful puppies – otherwise known as pudding pups are doing so well.

A developmental milestone has been reached, today bought us the joy of them starting to learn how to play.  I was so lucky that I was filming them at the time.

They are becoming more and more steady on their paws so it wont be long now before we can put them in the garden for a few minutes to see what they think of the big wide world.

Video clip at 17 days old.

Loving my little puddings!

Puppy Progress!

The puppies are meeting their milestones, we have had a couple of moments of puppy play activity  (only very small but there nonetheless).  They are all able to urinate without the aid of Molly stimulating them.

We have had funny little barks too!  The best thing today – was seeing two of the puppies wagging their tails!  Very sweet indeed.

I have put photos in the gallery, I hope you enjoy them!

Night time feed!

Just a quick post with a video of the toddlers  watch how they wake up when they realise Molly has settled down to feed a puppy!  This was taken on the 24th March when they were 13 days old.  Bless them they look rather doddery….. too much gin!!

Puppies at 13 days

All of the puppies eyes are either open or still opening which is just fabulous.  Until you get to see it first hand for yourself, It is so hard for me to describe just how wonderful this is.  I do feel like I can it into their souls with these beautiful dreamy eyes peering back at me!

You will see in the video clip below that the yellow girls eyes are pretty much fully open, whereas the blue collar boys eyes are little “chinks” in the corners.  When they start to open, the eyes open from the corners and then open very gradually.  It is perfectly normal for this to happen over a period of time.  It is harder to show the black puppies eyes up in the videos!

So for a further couple of days I will not be taking pictures in effort to protect their eyes.

Molly has been very protective towards her puppies but is starting to calm down and relax a little now, Melvin and Stanley do venture into the living room now.  Charlie is still preferring to stay in the hallway (it is far safer in his opinion! bless him).  Archie has been in the living room since the start but has never crossed the boundary of venturing too close to the pups.

The puppies are tottering about all over the puppy pen – again, another proud moment from my point of view – I just simply adore this developmental stage!!!!

I hope you enjoy the two videos.  13 days old tottering, 13 days old a good view of Miss Oranges eyes!

I have added a new page to the website – a questions page which I’m hoping may be of help to anyone perusing my website.

Pitter Patter – One by One

Here is a little video of them, almost in birth order!

Pitter Patter – one by one!

11 Days old – we have reached “Toddlerdom”

The little ones are all tottering about the whelping box on their unsteady little padded paws!  So very cute to watch them taking their tentative steps.   They do look a little drunk and when they topple over, they do a rapid roly poly.  (cute).

The two yellow puppies and the black girl (pink collar) have started to open their eyes.

The puppies are also reaching their target weights, needless to say I am very happy with their progress!!

Here is a little video clip of the toddlers in action.

Molly is an adoring mother, she lays with them while they feed, and stays as they drop off to sleep.  I really enjoy watching the puppies drop off the teat as they are so content with full tummies they nod off!  Molly is enjoying a walk every morning and most definitely enjoying her extra meals!  I have to keep a record of the food and fluids we are giving Molly, as overdoing it could have a bad knock on effect to her digestive system and rob her off all the nutrients and dehydrate her in the process, so it is essential to get the quantities right.

We are all very happy here at “Puppy Paradise” enjoying our precious charges.

We are about to hit TWO milestones!!!!

Today the pups are 10 days old.  The puppies eyes are starting to open in a few of the puppies.  The eyeliner look in the yellow is becoming more “towie” shall we say!  The pink collared black girl, her eyes have opened up quite a bit – but still a way to go.  So…. on the basis of them needing to get used to seeing what is about them, I will not be taking photos using a flash.

The other milestone……. they have grown so strong in the last few days that they are really trying to walk!!!! I will post a video clip when I have had the chance to make one.  It is so lovely to see them trying.  They haven’t mastered it yet but it wont be long!!!  They are taking steps but rolling over as they haven’t quite got their balance sorted out yet!  It is so very lovely to see!

Here is a photo I took yesterday.  (I have added more photos from yesterday to the gallery! there are some really cute photos)

Puppy Pile 9 days old!

Puppies at 8 days

I have added some more photos of the puppies to the gallery.

When taking photos of the puppies I have noticed how they like to stay close together in puppy piles and this is normal for all litters.  With this litter, they still like the puppy piles but I have also noticed how they like to be in “formation”  I have taken a couple of photos today to show you – how they like to still be touching nose to tail.

8 days old "formation 1"

8 days old "Formation 2"

Formation 3 (more of a classic formation!)
